Friday, July 10th, 2009The most prolific artist the world has seen since Elvis, Michael Jackson, died on June 25th, 2009. It was initially reported that Jackson was found in his California home experiencing cardiac arrest around noon- EMTs said that Michael Jackson was unresponsive when they arrived. After over an hour of CPR, Michael Jackson was pronounced dead- the actual cause of death won’t be determined until toxicology reports have been processed in the next few weeks. Michael Jackson has has left an everlast impression on the world of pop, one that may argueably never be surpassed. At the tender age of 5 years old Micheal Jackson, joined his 4 brothers in The Jackson 5,yeilding hits like “ABC,” “I Want You Back” and “I’ll Be There.” The boys were coached by his abusive father which may have contributed to Jackson’s problems later on in life. The Jackson 5 topped charts with cozy hit and provided a springboard for Michael’s individual career.
After the Jackson 5, Michael Jackson not only earned 2 inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he earned a section of sidewalk on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, composed 13 number 1 singles, earned 13 grammy awards and holds the Guinness record for best selling album of all time- Thriller. Michael Jackson broke the racial rift appearing on MTV and influenced top pop stars in the music industry today. Considered one of the most original voices in history Michael Jackson’s vocal hiccups and high tenor showed both his boyish nature and his developed emotion.
Avid fans met outside of UCLA Medical Center where, the Apollo Theater and the Motown Museum to hear word about Michael Jackson’s condition. Social networking sites like Twitter and online news sites stalled and crashed when a a huge of visitors stood by for the latest on Michael Jackson’s death. TMZ was the first site to report that Jackson had died with other major newgroups to follow much later on in the day. Jackson was preparing for a 50 show run at the 02 Dome in London, selling massive amounts of tickets when the news was released. Madonna had this to say about the abrupt turn of events- ““I can’t stop crying over the sad news. I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever! My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless.” -” Jackson will be eternally missed.
